Seeing I can now stand up for more than an hour at a time we have decided to stick to our original plan and depart London today. Geoff has woken up with a new cold. Lovely! If he shares this bug with me there will be a divorce happening.
We packed up and set off to get the car, hoping for an easier experience than last time we hired a car from Europcar. A vain hope however because when we got there they weren't going to let us hire without copies of our return flight tickets! Finally they allowed us to email them this when we got back to the flat. Most of the booking such as a diesel vehicle was not possible but we ended up with a fairly new car at least. See if this one needs servicing after a week like last time. There is a new rule now apparently that because we are hiring the car for over a month they wanted us to bring the car back to check it over after the end of the month. Seeing we will be in northern England then I don't think so! So again we negotiated. We have to take it into he place at Blackburn instead.
Anyway we finally got away from the car place (after having to ask them to move another car so we could get it out without scratching it), got back to the flat, packed the car and left.
We headed south. A very easy exit from London. So disappointed that I missed so much I wanted to do and see in London but thankful we had been sick at the flat and not on the road.
Overnight stay was at Pevensey at the Bay Hotel. Old style hotel with friendly service and clean room. Went for a walk along the pebbly beach. I don't think I would ever get used to going to a beach with no sand.
Pevensey is where William the Conqueror first landed to invade England. Time to explore tomorrow.
Time for tea and some TV now.
