Visit to Cousin Sue and Brian

Kerry sicker if anything today so I am off to visit my cousin Sue and her husband Brian. They live west of London at Farnham Common. Getting there by train is easy, the underground line from where we are at Stratford goes west to the end of the line where I changed on to a commuter train to Slough for the next 20 minutes.

Sue and Brian picked me up and we had bit of morning tea and then we went walking from their place to Burnham Beeches. This is an area of natural woodland that was purchased by the City of London in the nineteenth century for its residents and workers to get away from the noise and smog of the city.

Typically for England the area has much historical interest, it was used as a secret gathering place for equipment and soldiers to be used in the D-day landings.

Seven Ways Plain hill fort is located in the south west part of Burnham Beeches. it is a rare example of a single rampart earthwork used either as a stock enclosures or possibly places of refuge. It comprises a range of earthworks which have been dated to the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age.

So after a good walk it was back to Sue and Brian's place for a great lunch then back on the train to see how Kerry was going, not so good but she ate some tea so there is some hope .
