Travel day to Carcassonne

It was raining when we woke up today which was a shame because we had to pack up the tent trailer to leave and it was all wet.

We stopped for coffee and breakfast before farewelling Beaumes De Venise.

Driving in rain most of the day. Very challenging. A long stressful drive for Mike.

Saw our first white wild horses in the Camargue. This is an ancient breed of horse indigenous to this area of France and generally considered to be one of the oldest breeds in the world

We got off the motorway in search of the Meditteranean as we wanted to paddle in it.

It wasn't quite what we had envisaged!

Found our way to our Ibis Motel where we were staying for a couple of nights.

We decided not to wait until tomorrow to see Old city and we walked up to it for tea. It is an awesome sight.

We had a lovely meal and a wander around.

Afterwards we walked around as far as we could get along the outside wall.

It was around 8pm and the setting sun bathed the walls in a soft light, turning the stone to gold.

Can't wait to spend the day exploring up there tomorrow.
